Eco Team
Our School Eco Team are passionate about improving the environment, not only in school for our community, but for the wider community outside of Stephen Freeman Primary School.
Our team is passionate about recycling, litter picking and animal conservation. They have chosen to support Oxfordshire Wildlife Rescue this year and are looking forward to raising funds in the near future for this worthwhile cause. This year so far, we have committed to cutting the amount of general waste produced by the school, by changing our bins and increasing the amount of recycling being collected, from half of our weekly refuse, to three quarters of our rubbish now being recycled. To aid with this, we have placed mixed recycling bins in every class, along with food waste caddies to ensure that all food waste is kept separate.
We are considering the logistics of creating a wormery, to help manage our food waste, so please watch this space for further updates!
We have recently started the Living Streets Wow Initiative, which encourages students to walk to school at least once a week to help promote a healthier lifestyle and also improve the environment for everyone else who walks to and from school. By lowering emissions in the local area, we can all benefit from breathing fresher air with less traffic and congestion.
